It´s 85° here fools! It gets a bit cold at night cause it`s right next to the coast but whatever. I am in Viña del Mar, which is basically the playground of the people of Santiago during their summer vacation, which is January- March. It is a gorgeous and clean city, but I still wish there were more people that I know here.
So yesterday, I finally got to my hostel in Viña with help from some very friendly Chileans. On the plane ride here, I met this Chilean businessman (I think he was in the shoe business), and he was just stalking my ear off when he found out I know Spanish. So once we´re in Santiago, this guy offers to give me ride to a bus station which is much closer to Viña (Viña is about about 1.5 hours away from Santiago by bus). I know people say to never get in a car with a stranger, but I have this stupid tendency to trust people. No worries, he seriously just dropped me off at the bus station. On the bus, I met another man who works for the Bank, and he called a taxi for me so that I could get to the hostel. Both men told me that the college I´ll be attending, la Universidad de Adolfo Ibañez, is very well-respected and that my Spanish is very good. Almost no one knows English here, so that`s good to know.
The hostel is very cute and seriously right next to the beach. I took a walk the moment I put my stuff down, so you know that I walked to the beach. You also know that I bought a beer the moment I saw one. The exchange rate is excelente. I also bought an empanada. One thing I discovered is that Chileans love 80s music. While I was walking, I heard ´Bohemian Rhapsody` and was like ´wtf``?? Turns out, there were some dancing street comedians (one had on a Freddie Mercury costume and the other one had on a KISS mask). But the people watching seemed really into it, so I guess that´s cool. Also I went out to dinner with this Australian girl who`s staying in my hostel, and in that restaurant, we seriously heard the whole The Police and U2 Greatest Hits Albums. So weird. Anyway, this girl has basically been all over the world; her stories were really great, especially those about Peru and Brazil, so I think I might need to stop there. I am going to go the beach tomorrow so don´t expect a post because it would actually say something like ´Amanda spent all day at the beach.`

OMG I am so jealous. Well I am in South America too so not really that much. But you better be looking over your shoulder because one day I'm gonna show up with my bathing suit and towel.
